Based in part on the director's own experiences, Big Blue Lake is a bittersweet tale of 30 year old Cheung, who left her rural village as a teenager to pursue a career as an actress. When she returns home she finds much in the village has changed and that her mother has developed Alzheimers Disease. She decides to stay and tend her and in doing so embarks on a fascinating journey of self-discovery.
